Government Polytechnic Garur, Bageshwar was established in the year 2006 by the initiative of Department of Technical Education, Govt. of Uttarakhand with an aim to create opportunities for the youths of rural and far flung hilly areas of the state by imparting technical education to them for better career avenues. It is an approved institution by All India Council of Technical Education, Ministry of Education, New Delhi and affiliated to Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education, Roorkee, Uttarakhand.
The institute currently offers three-year diploma programmes in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Each programme has a sanctioned intake of 30 (+2 TFW) students as per the Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education, Roorkee, against the approved intake of 30 students by AICTE, New Delhi.
The institute is located on the outskirts of the scenic Garur-Baijnath twin town in Katyur Valley, at Khaderiya, approximately 10 km from Kausani, a renowned hill station. The environment is serene, picturesque, and pollution-free.
Facilities include state-of-the-art laboratories, a computer lab, modern workshop, language lab, smart classrooms, a well-stocked library, and other amenities. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled with 100 Mbps broadband connectivity.
